George-Thomas Svanikier is a Technology Strategy Analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York City. He has lived in Ghana, U.K. and the USA. He graduated from Washington College with a major in economics and a minor in political science and he served as Vice-President of the Economics honour society, Omicron Delta Epsilon, in his senior year. He also worked as a college residential assistant for three semesters before going to the Washington Center for a semester long internship. He interned with Citi Group’s Global Government Affairs office in Washington DC and had the unforgettable experience of being in the political center of the USA during the whirlwind election of 2016.
At the beginning of his senior year Mr. Svanikier was invited to take part in the Washington College to Wall Street program. This was a unique opportunity that inspired to him develop an interest in a career in the financial sector. Through weekly career classes and a trip to New York City to meet alumni who had pursued such careers, he was able to improve his understanding of the diverse career paths available and what it took to achieve success in the industry. In his final semester, he was nominated for a unique opportunity that allowed a small group of Washington College students to travel to Omaha, Nebraska to meet and have lunch with the business tycoon, Warren Buffett. The lessons shared by Mr. Buffet guide him to this day in his life and his career. Mr. Svanikier loves drama and acting. He is also passionate about financial technology, politics and football (soccer). At college he played on the club soccer team and acted as its treasurer. In secondary school he won the Richard Branson prize for entrepreneurship and part of his prize was an internship at Virgin Galactic’s offices in London.
